Cone Beam CT 3D Imaging for Enhanced Visualization
Cone Beam 3D imaging is a type of computer tomograph that renders 3D images of facial and oral structures to provide oral surgeons with a clear view of the patient’s airway, width, height, density, nerves, and bone. These images are produced by a cone beam type of x-ray, which takes and compiles multiple X-rays to provide a clear image for diagnosing and treating issues.
Your periodontist will use this information for surgical guides, mandibular joint appliances, airway appliances, and corrective jaw surgery. This information will also allow your periodontist to visualize the nerves to the tongue, chin, and lip, which will significantly reduce the possibility of damage occurring to the nerves when the infected or impacted teeth are removed. This technology can also be used to more accurately remove wisdom teeth that have become impacted, perform bone grafts, and recognize, diagnose, and treat cysts and tumors.
