Unlike traditional surgical therapy, which often required large incisions, minimally invasive surgery approaches surgery with the goal of either avoiding any incisions, or using as small an incision as possible. Our clinic can provide minimally invasive surgery through a variety of means, such as laparoscopic surgical design, planning technology and computer-assisted imaging, and dental lasers in place of traditional scalpels.

Procedures Performed though Minimally Invasive Surgery
While we are committed to doing everything we can to provide you with the support you need, it is important to be aware that minimally invasive surgery is not always a viable options, especially for patients whose condition is more advanced. We are proud to provide minimally invasive surgical procedures in the forms of dental lasers, laparoscopic surgical design, and computer-assisted technology.
One of the ways we can provide minimally invasive surgery is through LANAP or Laser gum therapy, which is an advanced treatment option that is specially designed to painlessly and efficiently treat patients who are suffering from gum disease. The laser effectively kills bacteria that has formed in the mouth without harming the surrounding gum tissue. Because there is no cutting involved, this process removes the need for stitches, which in turns
reduces any bleeding that will occur and speeds up your recovery process.
Another example of minimally invasive surgery that we offer is the Pinhole Gum Surgery. Many of our patients are drawn to Pinhole Gum Surgery because it is a less invasive procedure that works wonders in correcting patients who have receding gum lines. Because Pinhole Gum Surgery is performed with no incisions, the procedure is less painful and the recovery time much faster than traditional gum grafts. During the Pinhole Surgical Technique process, your periodontist will make a small 2 millimeter hole 6-7 millimeters above your mucogingival junction in your gumline. Next, your periodontist will reposition your gums with specialized instruments into the correct position. Finally, your periodontist will place collagen strips or other materials which will support and bulk up the tissue in the area. Unlike traditional gum grafts, this minimally invasive surgery is far less painful and the recovery time is much faster.
Post Procedure
One of the benefits of having minimally invasive surgery is that you can generally expect a faster healing process with limited post-procedure special care needed. The most important thing you can do following your surgery is to continue to practice good oral hygiene habits. Brush your teeth twice daily and for at least two minutes each time and continue flossing regularly. If you have not yet, talk to Dr. Seda or your dentist about a recommended antimicrobial mouth rinse.
Along with these important at home care practices, be sure to schedule regular visits every six months. During these routine checkups, your periodontist can conduct deep cleanings and monitor the overall state of your oral health, catching issues before they develop. By maintaining these habits, you will be well on your way to preventing additional issues from developing in the future.
Procedure Cost
Like most dental procedures, the final cost will be determined by a variety of factors, such as the severity of your case, what type of minimally invasive surgery you are having done, and what type of insurance plan you currently have. Our practice does accept most dental insurance programs, including non-managed care, indemnity (traditional), and PPO out-of-network.
Our staff will be happy to submit a pre-treatment estimate to your insurance company so you can determine what your benefits will be. Or, if you are not currently covered by insurance or have concerns about the final cost, our staff will be happy to discuss other financial arrangements with you.
